UPDATE: Andy, 13 yo. Resuscitated on table, Heart Failure, Pneumonia. Lord Jesus we praise Your holy Name! Thank You oh Lord, Father and Holy Spirit for Your great healing of Andy this past week. We marvel at Your goodness and mercy over mom Penny and her sweet boy. The Vet asked her last Monday if it was going to be Andy’s last. It was a difficult decision, but mom Penny is glad she chose to believe You could heal, so she chose to fight. 1,000’s of us prayed and You heard and chose to heal Andy. We ask for continued blessings of health upon Andy. Give him and mom Penny many more days together to glorify Your Name. In the Name of Adonai M’falti God my Deliverer. Amen. <3 Caren

Andy’s coughing is all but gone. He might cough in the am after sleeping all night. His appetite is good. I’m feeding him smaller meals more often. He takes his meds with no issue, however he now prefers then in meat baby food vs pill pockets. He is back to his daily routines, just moves some what slower which is to be expected. Our God is an awesome God! He brought Andy back to me from the brink of death!

Praise to God, Andy is home!!!!!!! I could not let him go yet. After the vet took him off oxygen, he started walking around! He is on Lasix, Enapril and Vetmidin. He has eaten dinner, potties and drank water since he got home! I have him crated for now as he is a bit loopy from all the other meds they pumped into him. I’m gonna recharge my phone then fill u in on the rest

Awwwww, how do you think he compares to Buddha [Penny’s Shih Tzu with CHF, RIP 2014] at this stage?

I think he is worse. Buddha’s came on slowly Andy’s came on fast

Yeah, I figured. Is there any point of comparison on Buddha’s timeline toward the end? Does it feel like you have weeks or months?

Buddha had an episode similar to Andy. He was in the hospital 10 days on oxygen. After that he was pretty good for quite a while
Right now he is sitting up. Maybe it’s easier to breathe like that?

It has every part of the Hawthorne plant which I think is important. An herbalist put me on Hawthorne after my heart attack in 2013, it was really helpful.

Yes, the vet took him off the Doxycycline.
Andy is in his crate asleep and breathing peacefully. Now if I can chill and sleep. I set alarms to check on him every 2 hrs tonight.

We were up a good part of the night. He was coughing. He peed too which was good. He was also hungry. But he sits a lot….which I guess is easier on his breathing. But it makes me nervous

I’m sorry you had a rough night. It’s good that he peed he needs to get that excess fluid out. I can see why it would make you nervous but it makes sense that he’d want to keep his lungs upright. Did they give him steroids?

I haven’t been to a vet since we put Socrates down in October I thought things were easing up especially in the Midwest. But I also heard that Wisconsin has a tyrant for a governor.

When he was at the er…I was not allowed to be with him.
But yesterday I pitched a polite hissy fit…. Plus I had a mask so I was allowed to be with him. I’m worried about today…he won’t get stressed out there

Well it went good as can be expected at the vet. The IV port is gone. Dr k said she still can hear some crackles in his lung so she started him on Clavacillin. Took him off the Doxycycline. She and I are having a conference Monday. I guess somehow she wants another lung x-ray…Also he didn’t sleep good last night and was coughing around 3 am so for now changed the dose and time of his Lasix.

She isn’t sure if the crackles are heart failure related or punemonia related. She didn’t take an x-ray today..she didn’t want to stress him out plus the vet office was busy and working short staffed

Sorry I couldn’t get back last night. My app only gave me part of the message. Usually I go somewhere else while I wait for it to catch up then go back- it never caught up until now. So she gave antibiotics without an xray, convinced that it was pneumonia… Did the ER vet do an xray?

Andy’s vet was slammed with patients and they were short on staff. Plus she didn’t want to bring on another episode. She and I are going to talk on Monday The question is did the heart issues cause the punemonia or the other way around?

Ok, hmmm. I guess the most logical answer is that the pneumonia brought it on because he already had a heart murmur. I guess at this point it doesn’t really matter what matters is that he gets the treatment he needs. How is he doing today? I hope you guys got better sleep last night.

Night seems to be the worst for him. So I’m gonna follow his schedule and nap when he does. This less than 4 hrs sleep is starting to affect me. He naps btwn 11 and 2….8-12. He was up from 2-315 am me too .After he fell asleep I couldn’t sleep

He still coughs but not nearly as much. For the last 2 days he follows me around the kitchen watching in case a tibit drops on the floor. I’ve also been feeding him smaller meals but feeding him more often. His breathing is different than it was but it seems better

I wonder if the er vet had given him Lasix if the problem he had Thurs would not have happened. If I had followed their advice he would not bee here. His vet changed the antibiotic on Thurs….he perked up on Saturday

At this time not really. The er vet in Janesville had staffing issues plus due to Covid19 they closed. I could switch to an er vet in Rockford IL
I just cringe when I though Thurs he would have no quality of life and maybe it would be best to let him go. I would have failed him

I’m so glad God was gracious to us all in giving you more time. At 12 yo time is limited, but it felt like it just wasn’t time to say goodbye. I’m glad that was true! ☺️🤗

Andy is improving! His cough is nearly gone except for early am. He’s starting to walk in side more, look in the kitchen invade a tidbit fell to the floor. He even greeted me at the gate today when I got home from the store! Praise Jesus

I pray so! He slept straight through the night! From 11:30 to 7 am! He was so zonked out he didn’t get the Lasix during the night..( extra dose) but I gave him his regular dose when he got up. I finally got him settled for a nap. He had a busy am as I dog sat for my cousins dog till noon
