Brutus has a rare disease which caused a stroke, not cancer but on chemo

PRAY FOR: Brutus 12 yo. Lord Jesus we ask that You would minister to Brutus as he ages with this difficult disease. Keep his blood thin enough to pump as it should. Mom Kathy has managed this difficult condition for 5 years. Help her to keep Brutus comfortable and happy to be her boy. We ask that You would enable him to function after this stroke. Help him to continue to see out of his one eye. Give this family the grace and fortitude they need to help Brutus through the days to come. In the Name of Adonai Rohi. God our Shepherd. Kathy Audinet Brutus has a rare disease called Polycythemia. It has been managed for 5 years. He just had a stroke caused from high blood pressure due to the disease. It left him completely blind in his right eye. Prayers needed for a full recovery and for his eyesight to return. Thank you.
thy Audinet Prayers for Pets Brutus is 12 years old. Polycythemia is a disease where the red blood cells clump together and the blood becomes too thick. Untreated can cause strokes, and organ damage. The course of treatment is to have what they call “draining of the blood” where the blood is taken out of the body and replaced with fluid. Brutus has had one of these procedures done, and it lowered his RBC count enough they didn’t do another one. His course of treatment is 2 chemo pills every week. Polycythemia is not a cancer, they just use chemo pills because they thin the blood. Polycythemia can have long term affects which Brutus is seeing now. It can cause high blood pressure like Brutus is experiencing and cause a stroke. Or in his case, blindness. Long term affects can also be damage to the kidneys. (Cont. below)

What a complicated disease. It must be pretty rare because this is the 1st I’ve seen of it. How long has Brutus been suffering with this condition? That he’s made it to 12 is quite a feat. You must be a terrific mom. ❤ Caren

He’s had it for 5 years. It took a year to diagnose.

Brutus is doing a little better, thank you! His blood pressure has come down. His eyesight has not returned in his right eye yet.
