PRAY FOR: Jasper, 1 yo. Lord Jesus we ask that You would be gracious to Jasper and minimize his pain as he waits for ACL surgery. Thank You that mom Theresa was able to get it scheduled in a timely manner. Jasper is usually full of energy and life; please help him to adjust to this malady. It sounds like a rupture of the ACL (ligament). So they gave him a cortisone shot. And are they having you do crate rest?

Why would surgery be needed?

I’m not a veterinarian Theresa. I can’t answer that question. If it’s a complete rupture, and it sure sounds like it since he can’t walk. Then surgery would be required to repair the ligament. It’s a common surgery. Sometimes the ligament isn’t completely torn in which case exercises can suffice for a time.

Bad news he’s broken off compty kneecap needs surgery wit xrays 3000 pounds vet trying to see if my benefits would get op with pdsa half price he can’t go out till surgery private vet can’t do it till march 23rd I heartbroken have cash away but not that much no insurance I need a miracle vet couldn’t get thru to pdsa will ring me Tom it’s a year to. That we lost our Toby bone stuck in throat vet couldn’t ok had to be put to sleep I fell coming out of my house right on my back as taxi coming take us to vets they did x-ray

I’m so sorry to see this Theresa. That was my concern, too. Are you saying that you got an x-ray for yourself too?
Did you ask about a possible amputation? I know that sounds like an extreme measure and it is but if that’s more affordable, it might be an option to consider?
Did the vet who told you couldn’t get in to have surgery for quite a while tell you what to do with him in the meantime.? Would muscle strengthening exercises be prohibited or valuable? These are questions you need to ask the vet.
