PRAY FOR: Gizmo, 14 yo. Lord Jesus we ask that You would be gracious to give mom Betty the time she needs to say goodbye to Gizmo. Thank You for the 14 beautiful years You have graciously granted this dear boy. Help mom Betty to cope with Gizmo’s new nutritional requirements. Show her day by day the best regimen to use to keep Gizmo comfortable and functional until the time he is ready to pass from this life to the next. Heal mom Betty’s stricken heart. In the Name of Adonai Rohi. God our Shepherd. Amen. <3 Caren

Betty Lynette Graeff 2-4-20: I recently was told that my fourteen-year-old shitzu has lymphoma. I have been giving him chicken breasts all his life. I started reading online today about different vegetables that you can add like sweet potato leafy green beans carrots broccoli etc. So I want to know what you suggest. He is on a steroid once a day for the swelling of lymph nodes in his throat and back legs. It seems like it may be causing constipation. The pre and pro biotic he has was being used to firm up his stools, but since the constipation, I stopped giving it to him. I’m devestated about the lymphoma. The vet said he probably has 3 months to a year to live. I’ll try anything to help him. I love him so much.

Psalm 139:5-12 (ESV)
5 You hem me in, behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.
7 Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
9 If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, โ€œSurely the darkness shall cover me,
and the light about me be night,โ€
12 even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you.

Hi Caren. I just finished reading about Misty and I can’t remember the other one I’m sorry but you had a conversation with a pet owner about some pre or probiotic she was giving her [pets]. They had diarrhea and you were telling her which way to steer. I read about the use of Teflon and aluminum going into their food. I recently was told that my fourteen-year-old shitzu has lymphoma. I have been giving him chicken breasts all his life. I started reading online today about different vegetables that you can add like sweet potato leafy green beans carrots broccoli etc. So I want to know what you suggest. The vet said he probably has 3 months to a year to live. I’ll try anything to help him. I love him so much. I can’t afford chemo or radiation. Please let me know what I can do for him. Thank you

to Betty

Betty,
Thank you for emailing me. I’m so sorry to hear about Gizmo and the lymphoma, a very difficult disease. Please send me a few pictures of Gizmo so I can post him on the website for prayer.

Thank you for reading the article about Misty and Andy. I understand your concerns. I must tell you I am not a Veterinary professional I can only advise you as a friend and patient advocate.

Gizmo’s is one of the few circumstances for which I would agree steroids are helpful. I would suggest you try some plain unflavored pumpkin it contains the fiber that could help his bowels.

Even if you could afford chemo at this phase of life it probably would not be in his best interest anyway. You’re doing the best you can for him. I will look forward to seeing his pictures and posting him on website. In the meantime I’m praying for him and for you.

I imagine you found us through Facebook. If you are able to use Facebook Messenger it’s a faster way to get my attention: https://www.facebook.com/pg/PrayersforPets1/

I have the 14 year old shihtzu Gizmo that has lymphoma. I’m Lynette.
You asked me to send some pictures of him so he could be prayed for.
You must have wrote me yesterday because it was on my phone this morning that you had reached out to my letter.
Prayers for Pets
Oh, OK. I wondered if that was you but I was talking with Betty! That’s nothing at all like Lynette๐Ÿ˜„
Lynette Graeff
oh I’m sorry you know what my first name is Betty and like a lot of my records have Betty on them but I go by Lynette. I’m sorry for confusing you this morning!
Prayers for Pets
That’s fine I needed a laugh!
Lynette Graeff
You just don’t know how much it means to me that you wrote to me and took the time to reach out to me. I love Gizmo so much. I just don’t know how I’m going to handle him passing..
Prayers for Pets
I thought the last name looked familiar but it just didn’t make sense
Lynette Graeff
I did too!!

14 years is a very long time to share a soul. You have a difficult time ahead my dear. We will be here to help you through it. You are part of the group right?
Lynette Graeff
I’ve been reading so much to see if I could help him in some way. I read yesterday that fresh vegetables will help him. So I’m going to get broccoli carrots peas green beans anything I can find and cook it for him. He already gets chicken breast. He’s been on that all his life. I have added salmon and shrimp and hamburger which are his favorites..
Lynette Graeff
Yes, I just joined today.
I’m going to call his vet and ask him about CBD oil. I was reading that that could help. Do you know anything about that?
Prayers for Pets
Let me send you an article that I put together a while ago about diet before you go hog wild. This will help you to better understand what you’re doing DOG DIET https://prayersforpets1.org/fda-warning-grain-free-dog-food-may-cause-heart-disease/ I update this article frequently
Lynette Graeff
Oh yes, I read about the grain free dog food also. He does not get much dog food just a little here and there.
Prayers for Pets
CBD oil could be helpful but it’s not a Panacea. It seems to be the popular thing for people to suggest these days. You have to make sure that he doesn’t react badly to it. If he has any allergies I wouldn’t try it, or maybe you know of someone who has them you could try one time to see if he handles it.
Lynette Graeff
I was told by the vet last week that he shouldn’t be in pain. But that he will just stop eating and start losing weight.

Gizmo is a boy, but he’s pretty in pink here. Photo: Betty Lynette Graeff

Prayers for Pets
This article began as a grain-free food warning but it has morphed into a recommended diet article. I can’t change the title of it at this point!
Lynette Graeff
Oh yes I am not sure about the CBD I had bought some last week hoping it would help my anxiety a little bit. But yeah I’m not sure if I’m going to give it to him or not.
Prayers for Pets
Ok
Do you have oil or capsules?
Lynette Graeff
Well thank you again and I hope you have a good day today. Please use gizmos pictures so that people can pray for him. Thank you so much Caren.
Oil
you seems to do okay during the day but at night when he tries to sleep he goes from one end of the bed to another I think the swollen glands in his neck are causing him some problems with breathing.

I will. I’m going to send you this terms and conditions agreement please just answer yes or no.

Goodbye for now and God bless you.

Betty Lynette, this is an article I wrote for a dog with a chronic cough. Many of the same suggestions at the bottom should be helpful for Gizmo. <3 Caren
